The Best 20-Piece Capsule Wardrobe for Spring 2021
I am incredibly excited to finally share this Spring Capsule Wardrobe with you! After a year of staying safe-at-home in mostly comfortable clothing, this coming season is showing a lot of promise. President Biden has announced that there will be enough vaccines available for all adults in the U.S. by the end of May, and I am READY to get vaccinated! And with the vaccine, I expect freedom to re-engage in society to come along with it. I cannot wait to see my friends and family again, go out to restaurants, perhaps even take some meetings in person and not over zoom… A girl can dream.
The Needs for the Spring Capsule
The high expectations I have for the season translated into having high expectations for my Spring Capsule Wardrobe. As usual, I considered the circumstances I will be living through in these clothes before putting together the collection, and I realized that this capsule had to fulfill a few tall orders:
The capsule needed to work for the cold early Spring temperatures in NYC, but transition well to the near-summer temperatures of late Spring.
It needed to keep me dry and comfortable during a season with plenty of rain.
It needed to be comfortable for the stay-at-home portion of the Spring, before I get the vaccine.
Be stylish and put together for post-vaccine life.
Include a super cute outfit for my vaccine appointment (I love to dress up for special occasions, and getting the Covid vaccine is most definitely a special occasion).
The Capsule Wardrobe Breakdown
Because the capsule needed to do so much for me, I couldn’t find a way to fit it all into my usual 15-piece formula. Instead, this season I decided to put together a 20-piece capsule. The breakdown is as follows:
5 Tops
4 Bottoms
3 Light layering pieces
3 Outerwear pieces
3 Pairs of shoes
2 Accessories
While I don’t usually count accessories in my capsules, I noticed that many of the outfits from this collection were craving a belt when I tried them on. I was also influenced by a recent consultation I did with a client where the inspiration for her 15-piece capsule ended up being a scarf that she already owned, so I decided to embrace the interest and include two accessories for the season.
